About this rate

These are market rates, derived from the day-to-day USD buy/sell rates combined with the live CAD/USD exchange rate, since Lebanese exchange houses price everything off the US dollar and convert other currencies from there. Buy is what an exchanger pays you for your Canadian Dollar; Sell is what they charge you to buy it from them. The gap between the two is the exchanger's spread — see our buy vs. sell guide for why that gap exists.

Lebanon doesn't have a single, centrally fixed exchange rate the way most countries do. Since the 2019 financial crisis, the rate actually used in everyday cash transactions — the market or "sarafa" rate — has floated independently of Banque du Liban's official reference rate. Our USD/LBP historical rate chart shows the underlying trend this CAD rate is derived from, and our glossary of terms covers the surrounding vocabulary.

Rates are provided for general informational purposes only and may not reflect the exact rate offered by any specific exchange house, bank, or transfer service. Always confirm the rate before completing a transaction.

How to use this converter

Enter an amount in either the CAD or LBP field and the other field updates automatically. Use the Buy Rate toggle if you're figuring out what you'd receive selling Canadian Dollar, or Sell Rate if you're figuring out what you'd pay to buy it. If you're planning to send money to Lebanon rather than exchange it in person, our remittance methods comparison and send money guide cover the tradeoffs between bank transfer, cash pickup, and digital wallets.

Sending Canadian dollars to Lebanon

Canada has one of the largest and longest-established Lebanese diaspora communities anywhere in the world, with immigration dating back to the late 1800s and growing substantially through later waves, including during and after Lebanon's 1975–1990 civil war. Montreal, and the wider Quebec and Ontario regions, are home to large, multi-generational Lebanese-Canadian communities that send money home regularly.

Like our other non-USD converters, this page's rate is derived from the underlying USD market rate combined with the live CAD/USD cross-rate, so it moves with both Lebanon's own dollar market and the Canadian dollar's international standing — worth checking both before comparing it against a bank or transfer service's quoted rate.

Frequently asked questions

How is the CAD rate calculated?
